Very
close to the main road and west of the ravine of “the fallen
giant” sits the inn of the “Valiant Hart,” a place of rest
for tired and weary travelers. Upon arrival, their first
question is “why does this tavern built of wood and cob
have an imposing grey stone tower? “ For an answer, best
to enter and ask Clodomir, the landlord. He will tell you
that many years ago existed a small fortress on this spot,
later destroyed by fire during violent sieges and battles.
Ten years after the destruction, Clodomir, who was once
a soldier stationed in the fortress, returned and found
a useful purpose to the stony grey ruins. With money gained
from his own pirated plunderings after the war, he incorporated
the tower in building this tavern. Soon after construction
was complete, a young woman, who had left the big city,
stopped here. She was charmed by Clodomir, with his strength,
his skill with an axe and the vivid tales of his exploits
during his “nice but good-for-nothing” period . Having fallen
in love with Clodomir, Hildeswinthe decided to stay. Together
they had one child, Athanagild, now a teenager with dreams
of leaving this place and becoming a knight. But he is still
very young and secretly in love with Nominoe the archer,
and is conflicted on what he should do. He might even seek
advice from “the old man”, but a hooded traveler has suddenly
arrived and entered the tavern with a story to tell . .

Tout
près de la grand route et à l'ouest du ravin "du géant abattu",
l'auberge du "Cerf vaillant", est un lieu de repos pour
les voyageurs fatigués et affamés. Cependant la première
question qu'il se posent en arrivant est : "pourquoi cette
auberge construite en bois et en torchis, possède-t-elle
une grande tour de pierre grise?". Pour le savoir, le mieux
est d'entrer et de demander à Clodomir, l'aubergiste.
Il vous dira qu'il y a plusieurs années se trouvait là une
petite forteresse, elle fut détruite par le feu pendant
un violent combat. Dix ans plus tard, Clodomir, qui était
soldat en poste à cet endroit revint et pensa que les restes
du bâtiment pourraient être utiles. Avec l'argent qu'il
avait amassé au cours de pillages après la guerre, lorsqu'il
était devenu pirate, il fit construire cette taverne. Peu
de temps après la fin de la construction, une jeune femme
quittant la grande ville s'arrêta là. Elle fut charmée par
Clodomir, sa force, son habileté à manier la hache et le
récit de ses exploits ainsi que par son côté "gentil vaurien".
Hildeswinthe tomba amoureuse et décida de rester, ils eurent
un enfant, Athanagild. Maintenant c'est un adolescent qui
voudrait quitter cet endroit, voyager et devenir un chevalier.
Mais il est très jeune et secrètement amoureux de Nominoe
l'archère, aussi il ne sait pas trop ce qu'il doit
faire. Il irait bien demander quelques conseils au vieil
homme, mais un voyageur encapuchonné vient juste d'entrer
dans la taverne et il a une histoire à raconter...
